Artist's Description

A slightly different take on my "Water & Birch" piece. This abstract piece is a closeup of water rushing over a birch log.

I ventured to Michigan's UP for an art festival in Marquette and the days after I explored the Keweenaw Peninsula, in hopes of a peaceful inspiring place as well as birch trees. I found both but instead of an upright birch tree, I came across this one washed up on the shore of Lake Superior, near Eagle River, Michigan. I was amazed by it.

Lover of Life and Light. I tend to be a natural observer and often a quiet man. I am thankful for being alive and for the experiences that I have had and am able to continue to share. My "formal" photography training consists of two, one day courses in junior high on basic dark room procedures. Since then, I have learned through direct experimentation and observation of the world around me. My style has been shaped over the years by being immersed in the world and observing the life that is dancing around in the light. I find it quite fascinating! Most of my works are a combination of original color and black and white. I think an accurate term for this is digital desaturation as I utilize a digital program to desaturate (remove)...
